As far as I know, “バラかつ(Bara-Katsu)” is a type of pork cutlet that is unique in Japan and cannot be found anywhere else. (“バラ” refers to Pork Belly.)

This family-run restaurant is full of Asakusabashi atmosphere and is popular with foreigners too.

The restaurant is almost full at lunchtime, but there is seating on the second floor, so you don’t have to worry.

The “バラかつ(Bara-Katsu) set meal” can be enjoyed with three types of sauce.

First of all, the sauce in the big red container is the restaurant’s original sauce.

Next, the sauce in the container with the black cap is apparently a favorite sauce of Emperor Naruhito when he was still Crown Prince, and is called “Prince Sauce”.

Finally, there is the ponzu sauce with grated daikon radish. It leaves your mouth feeling refreshed, but it may not be to everyone’s liking.

I tried both and found that the original sauce went best with the sweetness of the pork fat.

Please give it a try.
